H&S offers solutions for modular facilities along with its expertise for two highly economical techniques of polyol synthesis from PU, PET or terephthalic acid. These processes has enabled PU Companies to achieve a reduction of cost in raw materials by 20 to 60%.
PET Recycling Process
Together with the PET- reactor this process converts pure PET residues in the form of granulate, film, powder or fibre. The MP-reactor is additionally capable of converting terephthalic acid. After the provision of diethylene glycol the appropriate amount of PET is delivered into the reactor. Metering, mechanical and thermal treatment of the entire process is automatically process-controlled.
The advantage of converting PET at low molecular levels is that both the qualities of the polyol as well as the resulting PU-foam can be modified by means of reagents during the process. The final product is an aromatic polyester polyol of the highest quality.
PU Recycling Process
During chemical recycling a screw conveyor delivers small pieces of PU waste into the reactor. A blend of glycol, amines, carboxylic acids and/or catalysts generating the required quality of the recyclates depending on the residue nature. The splitting of the molecular chains occurs under continuous stirring
and temperature controlling. Upon completion of the reaction phase the fluid ecyclate is filtered and discharged. This reclaimed polyol can be added to or mixed with original polyol without any loss of quality and can be reintegrated into the manufacturing process.
ADVANTAGES:
H&S PU Recycling processes offer the following advantages:
* a reduction in cost of raw materials
* savings on waste management costs
* high standard of energy efficiency
* pure grade polyol with specific functional characteristics
* reproducibility of polyol qualities
* independence from the supply chain
KEY PART OF THE FACILITY:
The H&S PU recycling and PET recycling processes serve to conserve natural resources regarding both the sustainable use of raw materials as well as the energy balance. H&S reactors are closed and completely insulated tanks which are temperature controlled by pipe coils filled with thermal oil. By means of special heat exchangers the heat generated by the production process is reclaimed and reintegrated into the energy cycle.
The homogeneous blend of reaction reagents is ensured by an agitator with a special geometrical design.
APPLICATIONS
The polyol generated in H&S reactors is distinguished by an uncommonly high grade of purity in addition to outstanding basic properties such as:
1. flame retardance
2. low acid content
3. transparency
4. veritable mechanical parameters (insulation, density, compression, stability)
